Isolation Levels & Phantom Reads
Isolation Levels & Phantom Reads
HardDatabases0% accepted
Two transactions run at once and one sees inconsistent data. Explain the SQL isolation levels and the anomalies each prevents. Cover: Read Uncommitted, Read Committed, Repeatable Read, Serializable — and the three anomalies (dirty read, non-repeatable read, phantom read) and which level stops each.
Approach
Read Uncommitted allows dirty reads. Read Committed stops dirty reads. Repeatable Read stops non-repeatable reads. Serializable stops phantoms too. Higher isolation = more correctness, less concurrency.
