What you'll be able to do

  • Type functions, objects and arrays, and read compiler errors with confidence.
  • Model data with interfaces, union and literal types, and narrow them safely.
  • Write reusable generic functions and components.
  • Use utility types and type a real API response end to end.
  • Configure tsconfig and migrate a JavaScript project to TypeScript.

Week by week

1Week 1

Why TypeScript; setup, tsc, basic types, type inference

Functions, optional and default parameters, arrays and tuples

2Week 2

Interfaces vs type aliases, readonly, optional properties

Unions, literal types, narrowing, discriminated unions, never

3Week 3

Generics: functions, constraints, generic interfaces

Utility types (Partial, Pick, Omit, Record), keyof, mapped types

4Week 4

Typing APIs with fetch and Zod validation; TypeScript with React or Node

Migrating a JS project; capstone demo day

Practice questions

A sample — plus a full question bank on Flycodx.

  1. Type a getUser(id) function that returns User | undefined and handle both cases.
  2. Model a payment as a discriminated union (card, UPI, PayPal) and write an exhaustive switch.
  3. Write a generic firstItem<T>(arr: T[]) and a generic Stack<T> class.
  4. Create DeepReadonly<T> using mapped types.
  5. Type an API response and validate it at runtime with Zod.
  6. Fix 10 compiler errors in a provided JavaScript-to-TypeScript migration.
  7. Use Pick and Omit to build CreateUserInput from User.
  8. Write a type-safe groupBy<T, K extends keyof T> function.
  9. Type an event emitter so on('login', handler) gets the right payload type.
  10. Configure strict mode and explain three errors it catches.
