Who it's for

1st-year students in a C-based intro course, and anyone who wants to understand how programs use memory.

What you'll be able to do

  • Write, compile and debug C programs from the terminal with gcc and gdb.
  • Use pointers, arrays and strings confidently, and explain what happens in memory.
  • Manage memory with malloc/free and find leaks with Valgrind.
  • Build linked lists, stacks and queues from scratch.
  • Read and write files, and split a program across multiple source files with a Makefile.

Week by week

1Week 1

How C programs run: compile, link, execute; gcc, variables, data types, printf/scanf

Operators, if/else, switch, loops; debugging with print statements

2Week 2

Functions, scope, call stack, recursion basics

Arrays, 2D arrays, passing arrays to functions

3Week 3

Pointers: addresses, dereferencing, pointer arithmetic

Strings as char arrays, string.h, common string bugs

4Week 4

Dynamic memory: malloc, calloc, realloc, free; Valgrind

Structs, typedef, arrays of structs, unions and enums

5Week 5

Linked lists: insert, delete, reverse

Stacks and queues with arrays and linked lists

6Week 6

File I/O, command-line arguments, header files, Makefiles, gdb

Capstone build session and demo day

Practice questions

A sample — plus a full question bank on Flycodx.

  1. Reverse an array in place using two pointers.
  2. Count vowels, consonants and digits in a string without string.h.
  3. Implement your own strlen, strcpy and strcmp.
  4. Swap two numbers using pointers; explain why swapping by value fails.
  5. Find the second largest element in an array in one pass.
  6. Rotate a matrix 90 degrees.
  7. Dynamically allocate a 2D array and free it without leaks.
  8. Reverse a singly linked list iteratively and recursively.
  9. Check balanced brackets using a stack.
  10. Count word frequencies in a text file.
  11. Merge two sorted arrays into a new dynamically allocated array.
  12. Find and fix the memory leak in a given program (Valgrind exercise).

Questions, answered

Do I need any experience before this batch?

No prior experience is required — this batch starts from the basics.

How much time does it take each week?

Two live classes of 75 minutes, plus a few practice questions and one code review on your own code — about 3–4 hours a week.

What if I miss a class?

Every class is recorded and shared within 24 hours, so you can catch up and still ask questions in the doubt channel.

How do payments and refunds work?

You reserve for free and only pay by secure link once your batch is confirmed. Full refund before the third class — see our policies.

Can I get 1:1 help instead?

Yes, 1:1 mentorship is available from $60/hr. Book a free 20-minute call and we'll build a plan around your course.
